Cummins ISX → CAT C15 repower
One of our mechanics tackled a complete engine swap on a Peterbilt — pulling the worn-out 15-liter Cummins ISX and dropping in a fresh CAT C15. Below: the truck on day one with the ISX out on the floor, and the finished install with the CAT mounted and plumbed.


What the job involved
- Removed the original 15-liter Cummins ISX from a Peterbilt
- Cleaned and prepped the chassis, frame rails and engine bay
- Installed a rebuilt CAT C15 with fresh paint and updated accessories
- Adapted mounts, cooling, exhaust and air intake to the new powerplant
- Re-routed wiring harness, fuel and air lines for the CAT ECM
- Tuned, road-tested and returned the truck ready to work
